Cristian Van Schuerbeck Piano Teacher.

Cristian teaches piano in Teddington to children and adults of all ages and skill levels. He also organises recitals once a year at the Normansfield Theatre in Teddington. He has a great relationship with parents and students from many of the schools in the area. To name a few: Newland House, Collis Primary, St Mary and St Peters, Teddington School, Waldegrave School. Cristian started playing the piano at age 3. Since then, he has developed his music in many different areas. He has composed solo albums and worked in advertising. He also gives music production advice to bands, actors, and performers.

Cristian roots are Belgian and Chilean, he is fluent in English, French and Spanish. Cristian’s children Emerson and James were born in the UK. His wife Sarah is a primary school teacher from England.

Cristian’s main inspiration on the keyboards/Piano is Keith Emerson from Emerson Lake & Palmer. Keith Emerson is a British musician. Many consider him the most accomplished keyboard player in Rock History. He is renowned along with Rick Wakeman. Cristian met Keith in 2010 at the Wembley arena. A few years later, he shared the same piano backstage with Keith at the Barbican. The relationship with the Emerson family became stronger. A year after Keith’s passing, Cristian became the piano teacher for Keith Emerson’s son and grandson. He provided the family with advice and guidance on unreleased music sheets. Ethan Emerson (Keith’s grandson has performed with a 60 piece orchestra at the Birmingham Hall and played at venues in Italy and America thanks to Cristian tuition and advice.

In terms of classical inspiration, Cristian is influenced by Bach, Beethoven, and Mussorgsky. He also enjoys modern contemporary classical composers like Ludovico Einaudi, Yiruma, and Yann Tiersen.

In 2000, Cristian was only 19 years old. He composed the original music for a photo agency called Fotosashion. This aired on E! entertainment TV Wild On.

In 2004, Cristian toured the Netherlands with the American band All Too Human. He also gained experience in Piano Bars across the UK. There, he met director Giles Tingey, who gave Cristian amazing advice. Giles is now the singer of one of the most known Queen Tribute bands in the World.

In 2005 Cristian produced his first solo album entitled “My Experiences”

Cristian moved to Paris in 2007 where he specialised in recording, mixing and music production.

In February 2009 Cristian returned to London to produce several rock bands. He also established his own business teaching piano and production in Teddington, South West London. In less than a year, he had over 100 students. These included music producers and performers, like Baby Blue Rapper and Sterling Williams from The Lion King and Thriller Musical. Additionally, he taught children and adults of all ages.

Cristian continued his personal development by performing at Bloodstock Open Air Festival with the London-based group Biomortal. He also played keyboards live for the Progressive Rock band Aeon Zen. He performed with the band at their debut gig at the Luminaire in London. The show received great reviews from “The Classic Rock Magazine presents Prog.” After this performance, Cristian recorded a solo on Aeon Zen’s album “The Face of the Unknown.”

In September 2010 and 2011, Cristian performed the music of Rick Wakeman, Yes, and Asia. He did this as a solo act for Roger Dean at Trading Boundaries in East Sussex. Roger Dean is well known for his artwork with Yes, Rick Wakeman, Asia, among others.

In 2013, Cristian created the original music for Arckit. It’s an innovative lego type product for architects. It is now distributed worldwide.

Cristian divides his time being a father, performing, composing music and expanding his music teaching techniques and abilities.

In 2016 Cristian became the piano teacher of Keith Emerson’s grandson Ethan Emerson. Keith Emerson inspired Cristian to play the piano. He was part of the band Emerson, Lake & Palmer. They sold millions of records around the world. This teaching has brought incredible results to Ethan’s playing. It allowed him to play at venues like The Birmingham Symphony Hall in July 2017. Ethan is constantly improving and working hard to carry on his grandfather’s musical legacy.

Cristian organises piano concerts for his students since 2015 and his latest concert in April 2023 was a total success. You can see that from the photos and videos!

In 2018 Cristian created Piano Lessons at Home. It offers a new vision for piano guidance for parents. They can choose the right tools for their children to play the piano. It also brings new ideas to the conventional aspects of playing the piano. Learning becomes fun, boosts confidence, and adds creativity to the art of teaching piano.

In 2020, during the special circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cristian invested in the latest technology. He used Zoom and other platforms to teach his students. This approach allowed him to conduct lessons that were almost 100% akin to in-person sessions.

Since 2021, after a year of teaching online, Cristian encouraged his students to continue with their goals. Many of them have achieved incredible results. Sight-reading has improved, focus and concentration have doubled, and they obtained their piano performance ABRSM grades. Other students continue to learn for fun. They discover exciting and beautiful pieces of music from composers like Ludovico Einaudi, Yiruma, Yann Tiersen. They also explore works from classical composers like Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, and many others.

Cristian’s latest piano recital in 2023 was a total success. Over 30 students performed at The Normansfield Theatre in Teddington. Cristian also released with piano workbook Read Write Play which has helped hundred of students to improve their sight-reading.
